Andrea (Susana González) is a beautiful young woman eager to live, but with little time left because she has a heart disease. She is a clothes designer and prepares a bridal veil for Raquela (Cynthia Klitbo), who is engaged to José Manuel (Eduardo Santamarina). The veil, made with much love and dedication, will not be used due to the vagaries of life and will later be Andrea's.
Andrea lives with her parents, who maintain a boarding house for students, allowing them to live modestly. This house is next to a neighborhood inhabited by other characters and their families.
José Manuel realizes too late that he loves Ángeles, sister of his fiancée Raquela. Ángeles knows that this love is impossible. Ángeles suffers a fatal accident at the same time Andrea has a heart attack. The heart of Ángeles is donated to Andrea, who returns to life.
After the incident where he loses his true love, José Manuel changes radically; the boy who was happy and cheerful is no longer there. He gets another opportunity to love when he meets Andrea, who has always admired him as an athlete, since he is an international cycling champion. He does not know she has Ángeles' heart.
Their love faces many obstacles. Raquela Villaseñor will soon realize that the ghost of his sister has returned to steal her beloved. Meanwhile, José Manuel is under pressure from Azael Villaseñor, father of Raquela, to fulfill the commitment to marry his daughter.
Andrea's only friend, with whom she vents her sorrows, is Vida. Vida lives with her friend in the student house where Billy lives with Rosario and his brothers. She has a taxicab company that works from sunrise to sunset, is a determined and strong character, and is willing to face everything in order to protect her friend.
Andrea's great love to José Manuel tries to surpass even the impossible to crystallize their dreams. They decide to get married, only to suffer another tragedy: José Manuel's death. Andrea, saddened, moves to Guadalajara with Vida, without knowing that Raquela will also be there living with an aunt.
One day Andrea has a mishap where she meets Jorge Robleto (also played by Eduardo Santamarina). She is surprised by his striking resemble to José Manuel, but Raquela knows him too and this will now cause more suffering to Andrea. Although Andrea no longer believes in love, she begins to fall for Jorge.
